At Arden Early Learning in Airlie Beach, we know that professional development for early childhood educators isn’t a box-ticking requirement — it’s one of the biggest drivers of quality care. This term, our team is investing heavily in training, and we want families to understand exactly how that benefits their child.
What Professional Development Looks Like This Term
Ongoing professional development early childhood educators undertake keeps their practice current with the latest research in child development, safety and inclusive teaching. This term, our Arden team is taking part in:
– Workshops on trauma-informed practice and emotional regulation
– Refresher training in food safety and anaphylaxis management
– Sessions on embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into everyday learning
– Peer mentoring between our more experienced educators and newer team members
Under the National Quality Standard, approved services are expected to support educators’ ongoing learning as part of Quality Area 4, Staffing Arrangements. You can read more about educator qualifications and requirements on the ACECQA website at https://www.acecqa.gov.au.
How This Benefits Your Child
Every hour our educators spend in professional development flows straight back into your child’s day. Well-trained educators are:
– Quicker to notice and respond to individual learning needs
– More confident supporting children’s social and emotional development
– Better equipped to plan engaging, age-appropriate experiences
– More consistent in following best-practice health and safety procedures
Investing in professional development early childhood educators receive is, in short, an investment in your child’s safety, wellbeing and learning outcomes.
A Culture of Learning at Arden
We’re proud that our educators see themselves as lifelong learners. Many hold, or are working towards, qualifications beyond the minimum requirement, and our leadership team actively supports study leave, mentoring and attendance at sector conferences.
