Father’s Day is one of the sweetest occasions on our calendar at Arden Early Learning. Throughout August, our Airlie Beach centre fills with Father’s Day activities for children as they prepare handmade surprises for the special men in their lives, whether that is a dad, grandfather, uncle, or family friend.
Why Celebrating Father Figures Matters
Every child’s family looks different, and at Arden Early Learning we make sure our Father’s Day activities for children are open and inclusive from the very start. We talk with children about all the different people who care for them, so nobody feels left out of the celebration. This kind of family-focused celebration:
– Builds a child’s sense of identity and belonging
– Strengthens the bond between children and their important adults
– Gives children a genuine, hands-on reason to practise fine motor skills

Our Father’s Day Program
Handmade Cards
Using paint, collage materials, and simple printmaking with leaves and gum nuts collected from our Airlie Beach surroundings, children create one-of-a-kind cards that mean far more than anything bought in a shop.
Special Photo Frames
Children decorate small wooden frames with shells, paint, and beads to hold a treasured photo, giving families a lasting keepsake from their time at Arden Early Learning.
Story and Chat Circle
We read stories that celebrate father figures in all their forms, then invite children to share their own stories about their special person, building language and confidence in a warm, supported setting.
A Little Gift From the Garden
Children plant a small seedling in a decorated pot to take home, a living gift that keeps growing long after Father’s Day has passed.
Extending the Celebration at Home
Families are welcome to keep the Father’s Day activities for children going at home with simple ideas such as a homemade breakfast the child helps to prepare, a scrapbook of favourite memories together, or a backyard treasure hunt with clues written by mum or another family member.
At Arden Early Learning, we love watching children beam with pride as they hand over something they have made themselves. It is a beautiful reminder of just how much little hands can create when guided by big love.
